Before Upgrading to 2024, is it better to install the remote agents beforehand?

We would like to upgrade to 2024 from 2023.3.

Currently we do not have any Monitoring agents installed locally, and only have the 1 Agent on the Monitor server itself.

I was wondering if it would be better to install the 2023 agents on the remote servers and configure those before upgrading.   My thought is it could be done in an incremental fashion.  But maybe it is actually more work.

Also, in 2023.3 we are getting occasion sever Observer errors , so maybe that would eliminate that issue.

I appreciate the help.

Don't install 2024.0. It has bugs that have no patch released yet. Wait until a 2024.1 patch release before you change anything.

Hi @MichaelBartlett,

I would recommend upgrading your current Agent and Monitor Server to 2024.0 then installing the 2024.0 agents on the rest of your machines. The 2024.0 server architecture only detects 2024.0 agents. Documentation on how to install 2024.0 can be found here.

Thanks,
Jennifer

2024.0 has bugs that will break your existing Monitor 2023. No one should use it until patches are released.

Hi @RexNeville,

FYI, ArcGIS Monitor 2024.0.1 is planned for release on Oct 3rd.

Hope this helps,

Good advice.  I will wait until the patch 2024.0.1 is released and also wait to install the agents locally in 2024 when it is required.

Appreciate the input everyone.
