After updating to Adobe Illustrator 2025 (version 29.0), the ArcGIS map extension will not open. It returns a "missing required components" error and prompts to run repair and restart Illustrator after repair is complete:
But after running repair, it comes up with the same error. Fortunately, I can go back to the previous version of Illustrator and the extension works just fine. I'm guessing the extension needs an update to work correctly with the new version of Illustrator. Can we get that, please? I really don't want to keep using the old Adobe version.

Perhaps related, perhaps not. I was unable to open any aix file if the Pro layout had halos in text elements. I tried uninstalling the extension as well as uninstalling AI and reinstalling different versions of each. Nothing worked until I removed all halos from text in ArcGIS Pro. AI just hung on the "working on your file" screen for ages until I forced it to close. I am aware that halos aren't supported in this workflow, but a more useful error message would be nice for troubleshooting. Or, even better, support halos in the Pro to AI workflow!
Can you share some more info on your workflow so that we can try to reproduce the issue? Your OS, versions of Pro and Maps for Adobe, general workflow steps, or even better- if you have any AIX files that you would be able to share. All this info would be very helpful for us to try to reproduce the issue you're seeing.
Hello,
Same problem here.
I'm totally new to ArcGIS integration with Illustrator so I'm on a 21 day trial. This is a disappointment...
I have pretty clean install (formatted my drive 2 weeks ago).
I'm on windows 11, 24H2, build 26100.2894
Adobe CC with illustrator 25 (Also tried different versions of illustrator 24, same problem).
First installed illustrator, rebooted, afterwards ArcGIs maps 3.8. (for my windows user only), rebooted.
I always get the following notification:
ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud is missing a required component. Click "Repair" to launch the installer and follow the instructions to repair the application.
Please restart Illustrator after installation/repair is complete.
Repairing does not help.
On photoshop I can start the extension under the label "outdated extensions" (selfmade translation, may also be "obsolete")
