Making features invisible in dynamic mapservice using field value change in arcgis javascript API

Hi All,

I have a Map Service with 3 layers published on ArcGIS server 10.2.

The functionality which I am trying to explore is , in my map service layer if I need to make features invisible in map service depending on a field value change -- is it possible technically without doing actual edit Delete operation?

Assign a layerDefinition to the MapServiceLayer.
