I have a question about a link analysis map card I have found within the ArcGIS Insights Gallery. It is on the Routes page in the Flight Routes workbook. When you log into ArcGIS Online and visit the Routes page, hover over a flight route in the link map, the display field shows miles and count of routes. When you zoom in, the miles displayed on that same route change as you zoom. Is there an explanation as to why that distance changes when you zoom in? I have looked through documentation to see if this is discussed anywhere and have not found anything.
Also, I noticed that I had to log into ArcGIS Online to see the distance show up in the display field for this Routes page, any reason why that is going on? if I do not log in, I just see a count of flight routes...
This might be because the Arcade Geometry Functions are dependant on view scale:
note that geometries fetched from feature services, especially polylines and polygons, are generalized according to the view's scale resolution. Be aware that using a feature's geometry (i.e. $feature) as input to any geometry function will yield results only as precise as the view scale. Therefore, results returned from geometry operations in the visualization and labeling profiles may be different at each scale level.
Thanks for reaching out. I can reproduce both issues you're seeing and I'm not sure why either is happening. I'll do a bit more research and see what I can find.
Scott
To follow up, both issues appear to be bugs and we've logged them internally.
@BriannaWiddick thank you for bringing these to our attention!
