Hi All

Have been informed pricing of $X for a yearly subscription and the same $X amount to buy a perpetual license, with yearly maintenance being the same $X amount again.

Maybe I missed something?

As Jayanta mentioned, only an Esri rep/distributor can give specifics about pricing, but typically a yearly subscription will expire each year making it completely unusable if not renewed.  A perpetual license will still work after the year is up, but you will not be able to upgrade or get tech support (except thru forums) unless you renew the annual maintenance.

For desktop, typically (at least in the US), the first year maintnenance is included with a new ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Server purchase.

From what I see, some software, like Pro and other apps associated seem to be moving to an annual subscription only.

It would be wise to contact your local Esri office for the clarification on the pricing model.

Hi

That is from my local ESRI office.

They double checked.

Thanks for the license type explanation.

You don't find it ... odd ... that the yearly maintenance cost is the the same as a yearly subscription cost?

Is this what you pay?

Side blurb:

It was mind-blowing for me to find out that there’s no perpetual named user license, only annual term......so there are no annual maintenance fees.

Maintenance is provided during the term only.

I wonder if Esri will ever offer the perpetual named user license that can be transferred to another named user when the user leaves the organization.

@Andres Castillo

What you say above is not entirely true.  Esri does have a perpetual model for the on-premises deployment option of ArcGIS Insights.  This is deployed with ArcGIS Enterprise.

A perpetual model is not offered for our Insights SaaS deployment option with ArcGIS Online.  This is similar to other software and analytic packages.  Since SaaS requires cloud storage and hosting, it is not realistic for a perpetual offering.

As far as transferring named users when that user leaves the organization, you have the freedom to do that today in both deployment options.

Does that help and make sense?  We really need to get you connected with an Esri Account Manager in the region that you are working within.  If you message me, I can help connect you to the right person/people to answer your pricing questions.  ssandusky@esri.com

Thank you Scott for clarifying that Esri does have a perpetual named user option for ArcGIS Enterprise deployments.

I will reach out to my account manager to get pricing on perpetual vs annual term named users in ArcGIS Enterprise.

Thank you for providing your email.

I will reach out if I have further questions.
