Create a hotel space for units other than offices?

Hello,

Our company has been using office hotel spaces for hybrid employees for a little while now. Managers are now wanting to create lactation stations for employees to reserve but these spaces are rarely office space. Most times the space type is Institutional Use. Is there a way to make non-office spaces into reservable hotel spaces?

Hello @TomasL44 you can make any unit in the indoor map bookable. If the ASSIGNMENT_TYPE of the particular room that you plan to repurpose as a lactation station is set to Null or Not Assignable, you can enable assignment for it in Space Planner (see screenshot).

Following that, you can create a Hotel named Lactation Stations and then assign that room to that area and optionally, assign people to it too and restrict bookings so only a limited number of people can book it. This way you can ensure it is used only for its intended purpose by those who need that space.

In this example, I am repurposing a storage room (has full privacy) by enabling assignment. You can even edit other attributes from the Properties view, if needed.

Would that also add a new "lactation station" filter for the Space Type?

@MichaelJenkins you could use your example as an option OR create a restricted Area exclusively for Lactation Stations and add corresponding units from the building to them and only assign individuals who qualify. This way it is only available to the assigned occupants to ensure proper usage.

Right, I asked the wrong question.  If you add a "Storage room" to a new hotel called "Lactation Stations" would you end up with "Storage room" in the space type filter?

You would ideally change the UseType from the Properties popup to match the new purpose of the unit.

Got it.   Whatever you call it in UseType will end up in the Space Type filter list, but only for users assigned to the hotel it is in.   Thanks!
