We want to publish image services from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcGIS Online as a hosted service (without ArcGIS Server). We can publish rasters as tile services, but that obviously doesn't include all the functionality of an image service.
ArcGIS Online team. Please could you consider to add support for hosted Image Service or at least for hosted Map Image layer?
Now the only way is to publish raster to AGOL as tiles. Tiles can be published just within predefined scales, which can limit usage, when you are using multiple scales schemes in different maps.
And at most - you can´t get to pixel value. That´s a big limit! The only "workaround" is ArcGIS Server 😞
