Allow admins to specify time range for sort by popularity in gallery

I like to sort my galleries by popularity, but I feel like apps or content that were popular in the past but are less active now remain in the top spot long after their popularity has waned. We are a consulting company with lots of short-term projects, and I want the apps that are getting the most views this month to appear at the top... apps that got a ton of views three months ago but are now only occasionally used shouldn't remain at the top until some other app tops their all-time view count. I would like to see the currently relevant apps at the top.
It would be great if we had the option to specify a time period (e.g., a drop down with "today, last 7 days, last 30 days, last 12 months, all time") for the popularity sort option.
