All,

Welcome to the 9.4 beta program! The Mobile team is looking forward to hearing from you.

Important notes for getting started with the 9.4 beta:
1. ArcGIS Mobile client applications and SDK are bundled in a separate ArcGIS Mobile setup. They are no longer included in the Server .NET setup.
2. For beta 1 only, the ArcGIS Server .NET setup does not install the web services needed to create and store mobile projects on your web server. You will need to run a separate "ArcGIS Mobile Project Server" setup on your web server to create and manage the projects your field applications will use.

For more details, go to the new 9.4 Mobile resource center. Details will be posted on the blog.

Thanks,

Mobile team

That at beta 2, it will be a part of the server package, just for beta 1 ONLY, it is not?

Hopefully yes. We are working on new setups for ArcGIS Server .NET and inside of the new setup we will include the "Project Server". I cannot confirm for sure that the new setup will be in beta 2 but we are working towards making that happen.

For beta 1 you will need to run the separate project server setup.

Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

Thanks,

Jeff

Pretty straight forward.  So, as I understand it, Mobile supports WinMo 60, 65, and Tablet PC

Yes. You can find the list of supported platforms here:
http://resourcesbeta.esri.com/content/system-requirements-0

We are working to certify WinMo 6.5 but can not check it off the list quite yet. We had a device imaged with beta and the ArcGIS Mobile Application worked just fine. We are in the process of procuring an AT&T Tilt 2 with the final version. Once we have fully tested with it we will add 6.5 Professional to the list (both 9.4 and 9.3.1). We have yet to find a smartphone version to test with...

Note that from the Mobile RC you see that we are in development of an iPhone application and SDK as well. Expected beta for the SDK in December.

The fact that you are working on an iPhone app and sdk.  Good changes coming in the mobile world for sure.  You have been busy.

We did not get a chance to install/test under Beta 1, but are now working on getting Beta 2 installed.  Unfortunately, most of the support information for Mobile still seems to refer to Beta 1.

I did not see an option for a "Project Server" installation under ArcGIS Server .NET when we installed it (Beta 2), nor did I see a separate installation package, either on the ArcGIS Server ISO or the ArcGIS Mobile ISO.  Is there something that we missed when we did the install?

We've been able to create a mobile service, access it through the Mobile Project Center, and save a mobile project locally through MPC.  However, our installation of MPC does not seem to include any options for specifying or managing a mobile project server.  When we try to export the project (AMP file), only local options are enabled.  Are we still missing a component of the install?

I apologize if we're overlooking something basic - we had 9.3 running pretty easily, but can't seem to get 9.4 up and running.

I had the same problem. But the "simple" solution is to use "Save as" and not "Export". In the "save project document" dialog select "On a Web Server".

That seemed like a good idea.  I tried it, and I did indeed have the option to save the project to the web server.  I selected the web server from the list, updated the credential information for good measure, and tried to save the project.  However, I was greeted with an error message:  "Save error - Unable to save project prjTest.  Check the eventlog for more information."  Unfortunately, I can't find the eventlog to get more information.

I'm assuming that it's because there is no mobile project server set up on the server, but I could be wrong.

I've been trying to update a custom app I built for 9.3.1; it looks as if some of the libraries/method calls have changed, but the SDK page referenced in the initial message in this thread has gone missing:
http://resourcesbeta.esri.com/content/arcgis-mobile-94

Any idea how to get to it?

Thanks,
Mark
