Support for Attribute Heatmaps?

Does ESRI plan on implementing support for attribute-driven heatmaps?

I was a bit surprised this wasn't possible as it seems a very clear business use case.

E.g. Have a SharePoint list containing sales at different stores and then turn that into a heatmap based off your sales field in the list.

The current implementation whereby you can display feature density has uses, but less so.

Anyone else think this would be useful?

I definitely think this would be a useful tool.  I too have been trying to find a solution in producing a heat map based on attributes of a feature.  I may have to resort to creating grids within ArcMap and publishing them as a service.  It would be nice to have a dynamic map though that changes based on the view extent.
