Is there a way to programatically add layers to the sharepoint map or open a portal map?

Hi there,

We want to deploy an ArcGIS SharePoint page to every SharePoint project workspace that our project management system generates.  To do so I want to also create a group, templated map and app in our Portal, then link the Portal map to the SharePoint map.  This way our GIS specialists can add layers to the map in Portal and they will appear in the map in SharePoint.

I don't think this is possible currently, but happy to be proven wrong.  Alternatively a scripted tool that scans the layers in a portal map and adds them to the SharePoint map would work, but I do not know if there are any methods or ways to add layers to the SharePoint map programatically.

Thanks,

Marc

Hello @Marc_Graham --

Thanks for posting your question on Esri Community. This is a very interesting workflow. Although you can write some python scripts to get the latest changes to a web map in the portal, the challenging part is sending those updates to the ArcGIS web part in SharePoint.

I would like to add this as a new "idea" and will discuss this internally with the team. I will  let you know if we can implement a solution which would allow you to accomplish this workflow without any scripts.

In the meantime, would you be able to move this post to the "Ideas" channel (https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-for-sharepoint-ideas/idb-p/arcgis-for-sharepoint-ideas)?

And feel free to reach out if you have any questions/suggestions .

I will keep you posted.

Thanks & Regards,

Raaj
