We have some layers in groups in the web map.
When I go to add that in Excel I cannot expand to add these layers
How can I get into groups?
Welcome @DougBrowning!
Thanks again for posting your question. It is a good one. From the first screenshot, is this taken from Map Viewer? If so, I would need to understand how this was created. Did you group layer items or ?
In screenshot two, is this taken from ArcGIS for Excel? If so, there are 2 types of layers that are included in a web map - feature and imagery layers. If you are trying to expand imagery layers, this is expected. And when you say, you are trying to expand layers, this is different than 'clicking' the + sign to add attribute table.
Looking forward to your reply @DougBrowning!

First image is map viewer yes. It does that when you bring in the entire service at once on its own.
Second image I think I get no + symbol if the source is a map. If there are no groups maps work to add.. Looks like you are adding form a feature service?
In short, @DougBrowning We will not be able to expand group layers. For example, this layer has groups and I am at Add layer step -
Once I have added the layer, now in my TOC, I can expand -
This is with the assumption you are referring to sub group/layers and not 'groups' in your organization like this -

Try this with a map that has a group and you will see it.
Hello @DougBrowning,
Hope all is well (we wont talk about your Football team as your icon though)! Go boys!
I did some further testing and I am not seeing the issue still. Could be lost in some translation here but I did create a short video. I added a feature layer to a group and added a web map containing the layer and added the feature by itself but I am able to add attribute data and expand in TOC. Let me know if I missed a step -

Sorry been out. I am seeing it when there is a group in the map it thinks its an imagery layer?
In Map Viewer
In Excel the group lists as an imagery layer.
It is when trying to add from a map not a feature service.
Not sure what is up there.
Good Morning @DougBrowning,
I had to call in reinforcement from my team. We collectively reviewed the workflow and tested using a dataset that mimicked yours. We were not able to reproduce this issue leading to the conclusion this maybe data specific, however, our developer noticed the following:
the checkbox to disable is this criteria is called doesntHaveUniqueItemId which has a comment surrounding it if the layer doesn't have a proper portal item ID of its own for us to maintain the checkbox state (e.g. AGOL group layers)
Perhaps digging into this may lead us somewhere?! Keep me posted!
Best,
SC
