Can guest users add data to the Excel table? Greyed out now.

I thought this used to work but now the add data to excel button is greyed out if the user is a guest.  Same layer works if I log in.  I can add to the map side but the data side no.

Is this a change?  Do you need an account to add?  I tried a free account also and a no go.

thanks

Hey there @DougBrowning

We did make some improvements to better align with ArcGIS Online users. Note the following updates:

  • Owners of the layers will be able to add attribute table regardless of edit permissions.
  • Not layer owner should not able to edit the layer even if edit capability is turned off.
  • Guest or Viewer role are not permitted to add attribute tables

The greater conversation was sparked by two bug logged by Tech support as BUG-000170463 and BUG-000172999. In addition, you may recall sometime in late 2024, ArcGIS Online updated their user types/roles, therefore, our components followed suit. See roles for additional context.

Hope this helps!

All our services are read only no editing.  We just wanted to be able to have the public add our ArcGIS Hub data and see the table in Excel.  I thought it used to work.  Bummer.  thanks

You may have seen my other post that when we try to do this between portals pass through Auth is not working correctly.
