Multiple Choice form question becomes Text Input on hosted feature layer views

When creating a Multiple Choice question on a hosted feature layer, it works as expected.

However, when configuring the form on a layer view, the new field is automatically converted to a Text Input. The Multiple Choice option is no longer available, and there is no way to change the new field's input type in the Field Maps form designer.

This makes the new feature difficult to use, as we rely on hosted feature layer views to manage editing permissions and different forms for different staff groups. Since layer views are Esri's recommended approach for access control, I'm struggling to understand the intended use case for this feature if it isn't supported on layer views.

Also having this issue - have just gone to update our workflow, added the new text fields to the layer, gone to add this to the Field Maps form and there is no option to add this as a multiple choice field:

Unable to add as a multi choice option to the form as the field already exists now as a text field.

This is also a hosted feature layer view so you cannot add fields through forms anyway. I added a text field to the core hosted layer, then refreshed the view, now am trying to add the multiple choice to the form.

I am really disappointed ESRI support say this is by design, it's expected behaviour. 😑

@BrandonGuo this is supported, however, you have to use a workaround.  You're unable to set the Input Type to Multiple Choice when the field is first added to the form.  However, if you save the form and then open it again, when you select that field to edit it's properties, Multiple Choice will be avaiable.

Since this is on a View, your field will need to pre-exist.  In addition, if you want to use the "Other" option, that field will also have to pre-exist.  If it does not, and you try and add the "Other" option, you'll get an error on save.

As to how long you'll have to use this workaround, I can't comment on that.  The team is discussing how best to address it moving forward.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you.
