Field groups: No field groups available -- The form contains unsupported data

Hello.  I am trying to get contingent values to work in Field Maps for a tree inventory project using tree taxonomy.  From another post, I was able to get contingents to auto populate in ArcGIS Pro finally (v 3.4.3), or so it seems.  I then republished (overwrote) the service in ArcGIS Online.  The service contains the tree (point) layer and a horticulture (polygon) layer.  The contingency workflow appears to be working in the web map in Map Viewer, except I have to select each recommended taxonomy value instead of seeing them auto populate.  Opening the web map in Field Maps Designer, I created a form by importing the pop-up I had configured on the layer in map viewer.  According to some online help, I expected to see a Field group listed, but none listed (see screen shot).  I forged ahead and added a group element and moved one of the contingent fields into the group.  Message warnings appeared on the other contingent fields, so I moved those fields into this group (which made sense), saved the form.  I opened Field Maps on my Android phone, opened the web map, went to add a point feature, and I see a "The form contains unsupported data" message for the tree point feature class.  I cannot add a test feature point and test the contingency capability.  I have no clue what is contained in the form that is unsupported.  I was able to create a polygon in Field Maps on my phone.  Maybe I need to publish the point and polygon layer as separate services? I have watched some videos and read online help, but I feel like I am fighting the contingent process every step of the way.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
