When using the Bad Elf Flex GPS receiver as the location provider in Field Maps, do I need to use the Bad Elf Flex app in combination with the Field Maps app? Or will I only need the Field Maps app? I do not plan on using RTK corrections.

Hi @mshanaghan , you shouldnt need the Bad Elf Flex app to connect to the receiver in Field Maps if you are not using corrections. Are you having trouble connecting at all? Out of curiosity, what mobile device and OS version are you using?

Colin

Hi Megan,

The Flex app is only required if you are doing RTK, want to change settings, or upgrade firmware. Once a receiver is Bluetooth paired with your phone or tablet you won't have to go through that process again. If you configure the receiver in the provider options of Field Maps, you will only have to do that once as well.

Hi Colin, I'm not having trouble connecting. I've used the Flex app to get corrections and it was kind of a pain. For my next project, I want to forgo this. So I was wondering if I needed to download the Flex app on the devices I plan to use, or if only Field Maps was required. Thank you for your answer.
