The ability to search for a layer within Field Maps like you can currently in an ArcGIS Online web map would be incredibly useful for our company. I do not understand why it is not currently possible.
Hi @kevinfarrell10 ,
Search is available by layer, table, or address in Field Maps. To enable it you would need to open your webmap settings and scroll down to the Application Settings. Select Enable Search and check By Layer, select the layer and field you would like to have searchable. The key to making them searchable offline is checking the Use in ArcGIS Collector and ArcGIS Field Maps. I hope this helps.
I have configured these settings multiple times for a Field Map and they don't stick, even after a save. They work for awhile, then stop. I go back into the settings and they're reset back to the default By Address. Any ideas on why this happens?
I have had the same experience as JFisch. The configurations do not change search options in the Field Maps version of the app, although they do work in the webmap. This seems like a major oversight as field workers are often looking for non-address based features in the field for workflows related to wildlife and other environmental field research use cases. I think I must be missing something because these use cases probably provided the biggest impetus for the creation of Field Maps, as well as Collector.
