I published a feature service from our enterprise geodatabase so mobile users can download data for offline use. In addition to enabling "sync" and "update" on the web service it seems that I also need to enable editing privileges on the layer at the database level as well. This "allow for edit" at the eGDB level is creating sync versions for read-only data which seems overkill just for read-only data. I thought I would reach out to other users to see if there is another way around this.
Do you have data that you allow for offline use in Explorer? Are you setting the data access as edit even though the data is only used in Explorer as read-only?
