Hi,

I cannot run Desktop Explorer.

I have a Dell XPS 15.  It meets the hardware requirements listed for Desktop Explorer.  I am running 64-bit Windows 7 SP 1.  My graphics drivers are up-to-date.  If there is a software incompatibility I cannot find it.  I am admin on the computer.

When I run Desktop Explorer it does not display correctly.  The screen shows the world map with elements of a user interface on top of it.  The UI elements appear or disappear depending on moving the mouse around.

The version is shown as 10.0.1750.

I've installed and uninstalled the program.  No difference.

Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

It sounds like a graphics card display issue.

Which graphics card do you have?

Thanks,
Mark

I have a GeForce GT 420M.  The drivers are up-to-date at version 266.39.

FWIW, I ran the online configuration checker tool and it said my hardware was sufficient to run Desktop Explorer.

Thank you.

I have the Dell XPS 13, and maybe the same problem as the earlier-mentioned Dell XPS 15.  ArcGIS Expl. desktop will not open completely.  I get the ribbon and the contents panel only.  And the cursor is stuck on "grabber."  I just bought a GIS cd of county land data.  The data transferred from the cd successfully and the compressed shapefiles were properly extracted.  But I can't get to the data through ArcGIS Expl desktop like I should be able to.  This laptop originally had VISTA operating system and I converted it to Windows 7.  Are there compatibility issues?  or what?  Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,

I have the same issue with the 1750 updated version. I try to run it on a ThinkPad with Windows XP. I started to use the standard ArcGIS Explorer Desktop as I have already had ArcMap install on it. Nothing happen. So I have uninstalled ArcMap and all other ESRI products and try with the Current ArcGIS Explorer Desktop version. The popup of ArcGIS Explorer appears and the windows open but after few seconds it dissapears and no more activities.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks

We have a problem with some of our older Dell GX520's.  The splash screen will load but when the program tries to start it just terminates.  We have tried to solve the problem with help from our IT dept. the only work around we could come up with was to install a different video card for those that had the problem.  Just a heads up.

We have the same problem with builds 1700 and 1750 on Dell D520, D530 and D620 laptops.  AGX worked fine with Vista and its associated graphics drivers, but get a map that does not work when the laptops were upgraded to 64-bit Windows 7.  The AGX map will work if it is located on an extended monitor, but that does not help when you use the laptop stand-alone.  Big bummer.

I am having a similar problem with my Toshiba laptop - Satellite E205, also Windows 7 64 bit.  I don't know if it is specific to Dell.

Thanks,

I've had this happen a couple times on my Dell Precision T3500, if I go into the Task Manager and kill the E3.exe process, and re-open, it often works.
