I have one shapefile which is GCS WGS_1984.

I then have a .dwg file that has no spatial reference. I exported the polyline file to a shapefile and it still has no spatial reference. I  project to align the same as the other shapefile but I am getting a problem.

The original has extents of -102.0 and -87.00 dd  and the new one is  like 6940520 ft.

I keep starting over and making them all the same and not getting them to align.

Please help.

When I add the original file... I get this warning message:

"Warning, inconsistent extent!

One or more of the added layers has an extent that is not consistent with the associated spatial reference information.

Re-Projection the data in such a layer may lead to unexpected behavior. Use Arc Catalog to confirm the spatial reference is correct and adjust if necessary.

Where did your dwg come from?  If it came from CADD, are you sure it was created using a geographic coordinate system?  Quite often they are created in local coordinate systems that have no relationship to the real world apart from the unit of measurement.
