Cannot add ArcGIS Server 10 services

Hello,

I am unable to add services to ArcGIS Explorer 1200 from ESRI??s test server for ArcGIS 10: http://sampleserver3.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services. I get a generic ??Unable to add service(s)?? message.

To research further, I published a map service to my own ArcGIS Server 10 (PreRelease).

I was able to view this service just fine in ArcMap (i.e. via the service??s SOAP endpoint). I was also able to view this service just fine from my ArcGIS Service Directory via JavaScript (i.e. the REST endpoint).

When I tried to ??Add Content?? this service from within ArcGIS Explorer 1200, it did not work. I get the same ??Unable to add service(s)?? message.

When researching this issue further, I turned on my map service??s WMS and KML capabilities. I have noted that I am able to successfully view my map service in ArcGIS Explorer 1200 using both of these endpoints (i.e. I have a workaround if needed).

I??ve examined the http traffic that is being generated, and everything comes back with a 200 status. I even have tried turning off my Windows firewall, but to no avail.

I am clueless as to what might be going on. Is this a bug or an incompatibility between ArcGIS Explorer 1200 and ArcGIS Server 10? Have I missed something?

Any and all insight is appreciated!

Thanks.

Patrick

Patrick,

ArcGIS Explorer 1200 is built to work with ArcGIS 9.3.1 and is not guaranteed to be forwards compatible with ArcGIS 10.0. There will be a new release of ArcGIS Explorer around the same time as ArcGIS 10.0 is released which will support ArcGIS 10.0.
