Editing doesn't stop when edit widget is closed, and sometimes is impossible to exit

Is there a easy way to exit editing mode?  Currently, the only way I've found to stop editing after choosing one of the "select" buttons is to choose the "pan" symbol.  (In Web App Builder, closing the Edit widget would close out editing, but that doesn't work in Experience.)

If the layer being edited is turned off while the edit widget "select" is still on, the edit widget no longer shows the "pan" option and it is therefore impossible to turn off editing unless you remember and turn back on the layer being edited (or you restart the app.)

Thank you!

If you place an Edit Widget in a Widget Controller, editing will stop when the Widget is closed.

I guess I was seeing into the future. I thought this was out last update.

I've added this Idea on the JavaScript API.

In the coming Experience Builder in ArcGIS Online update, closing the Edit widget when it's placed inside a Widget Controller, or another layout container widget, will stop editing. Also, a prompt to discard edits is displayed if there are any unsaved edits.
