Edit Tool is Selecting Uneditable Layers

The edit widget is selecting all layers that are being drawn in the map view instead of only the layers that are editable. I have multiple layers inside a map that is being used by an experience. I want the applicaiton to only select the editable layers, but when I draw a square to select points it is selecting the uneditable layers and they sit in the edit widget greyed out. This prevent editing until they are unselected adding an unnecessary step to my field teams work (see attached image). I have attempted the following.

  1. Within the widget under Mode and Map, I only have the layer I want editable selected
  2. I have disabled editing for all the layers I do not want selected in the Feature Layers settings
  3. I have disabled pop ups for the layers I do not want selected

The only other solution I know of is turning the points into an image layer but I am really trying to avoid that. Screenshot 2026-06-26 090445.png

@Matthew4

The same thing is happening in my ExB app since the June 2026 update. It was only selecting the editable point layer before the update and is now selecting all kinds of reference layers, including polygons.

@Jianxia, if you need an example, here is our public-facing application. The Edit widget is under the accordion item named "Step 2.")

Thank you!

Hi @Matthew4 and @LauraWaddle_-_FS Thank you for reporting this. We were able to reproduce and are tracking the behavior in BUG-000185863 - ArcGIS Map Viewer displays feature layers that are not editable as greyed out options for the user in the Edit pane when overlapping features are selected on the map
