I had a question using the Draw widget measurements.
I have a web map in the my local stateplane projection. When using the Draw widget tool tips and constraits, the "total length" (or total area if drawing polygon) does not match the label that is placed when Show area measurement is checked on.
Why don't these numbers match?
Hi @ClintOffutt. I'm guessing it has something to do with the projection. What's the EPSG code for the local projection you were using? We could use it to see if it can be reproduced from my end.
Hi, were you able to figure this out, or provide explaination on the different measurement values?
Hi @ClintOffutt
I tried with a map in your EPSG code and cannot reproduce it, neither with other GCS. Could you share a video of the bug?
No, sorry I'm not that technically advanced to share a video, but I appreciate you trying. Basically, when I draw (for measurements in my case) linear segments or polygons, the label that pops up with the little orange dot lacks the accuracy and precision of the Draw widget contraits. For example, if I constrain the line to 100 (which is feet since I'm in the state plane coordinate system) the label might show up as "Length 101.12 feet".
Every, every, every time! It's not like it a random bug or glitch, it's just wrong. Who knows, I just wish they would log or label individual segments of a linear measurement, either in the Draw widget, or more appropriately in the Measure widget. This is very basic GIS functionality that people who work with COGO land descriptions are in need of.
Thanks again for trying, no biggie,
