Hi,

Is it possible to configure the settings for the widgets in experience builder in the same way as with webapp builder? The settings in webapp builder allow you to change things very easily, when you select a widget to add the settings are there in front of you. So for example, we have a locator thats used in the search widget with a name that isnt very user friendly so we always change its label in webapp builder. So from the search box dropdown its called something different to its actual name. I am new to experience builder and I cant see where this type of setting is for the widgets. Is the same level of configurability not available in experience builder?

Thanks

Dave

@davidchamberlain2 I think you are getting confused about something that trips up a lot of people new to Experience Builder. There is more than one way to get a search bar in Experience Builder. Built into the Map Widget there are a set of tools. These tools cover common map operations and are designed to be used with no configuration. In fact, the only option provided by these tools is on or off.

Some of these tools, Search, Layers, Basemap, Measure and Select, are duplicated as widgets that can be added from the left side panel. The widgets offer many more options. @ShengdiZhang was showing an option from the Search Widget. You will want to turn off the Search Map Tool and add a Search Widget.

The Search Widget was first added to Enterprise 11.0.

Hi @davidchamberlain2 ,

In Experience Builder, when you select a widget on the canvas, the widget settings will be displayed in the right panel.

Specifically for the search widget, you can update the labels and icons for each search source, and they will be synchronized and displayed in the search box drop-down menu.

Hi Shengdi,

I have all the widgets selected (from the tools menu on the right, measure, location etc) and they are visible on the canvas but I am unable to select them. I hover the mouse pointer over them but only the canvas itself is selectable. I am obviously doing something wrong here, but what??

Thanks

Dave

Hi @ShengdiZhang ,

This is the problem. I cant select a widget on the canvas. When I click on a widget it isnt selected, the only time its selectable is when I go into live view. This snip is what I see when I am clicking on a widget, no options come up on the right because the widget isnt being selected even though I am clicking on it!

Any ideas? This is driving me mad!

Thanks

Thanks Jeffrey. Thats the answer yep. Unfortunately the version of experience builder we have on our portal doesnt have the search widget to add, its not in the list of widgets on the left that can be dragged onto the map. I assume thats because its an older version? 10.9.2? I might have to use AGOL instead.

his was all due to an older version of Experience builder being used. We have a more up to date version in AGOL and that has worked as expected i.e I can configure widgets. Thanks for you help all.
