Accessing Expressions from a Web Map in Experience Builder

Hi All,

I am trying to wire up a text widget with dynamic content that can calculate the sum of values in a field. The field, however is a string in the hosted service. In order to get around this, I created a new field that casts the string to an integer via an expression in my web map, hoping that experience builder could use that field but it cannot see it: 

Does anyone have any recommendations? I am trying not to mess with the source hosted feature service and the views functionality in experience builder is also too limited to let me change the field type.
