It would be really useful if in the tool configuration of the select widget, when "Interact with a map widget" is selected there was an option to set the selectable layers to visible layers only.
Alternatively this could be added as an option to the tool at runtime alongside the options to toggle all or none of the layers to be selectable.
Either way, I imagine most of the time users would first switch on the layers they want to interactively select and currently they have to switch them all on again in order to select the features from the map.
