Right now when you use the "Clear Selection" tool on the List Widget or otherwise clear your selection, there is not a way to set up an action to zoom the user back to the default extent of the map.  My users are frustrated because this is what they expect to happen.

The only workaround I found is to create a line layer of the default area boundary and use list widget zoom to the layer. You need to make the list look like a button. The only thing I don't like is that the boundary will be highlighted.

This needs to happen for every widget. Returning to the default map extent is vital in creating an application that is user-friendly.

Hi all,

Following the November 2024 ArcGIS Online update, we have provided an option to return to the map initial extent after de-selecting a feature.

You could select message action -> record selection changes -> Map -> Zoom to/Pan to, then check the "Return to the initial map extent when selection is cleared" option.

@Ke_Xu for those of us on ArcGIS Enterprise, when will get the setting you mentioned. We are on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.4 and I am not finding "Return to the initial map extent when selection is cleared".

@Joshua-Young It will be released on ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5.

@Ke_Xu Is there an option to return to the previous extent and not the default? If I select records from the Near Me, I would like my extent to return to the Near Me extent and not the default of the map.

@Teri_Dane I understand your need, but there is no such option currently.

Teri_Dane

@Ke_Xu Thank you. Will it become an option in future releases?

Hi @Teri_Dane  I suggest that you post a new thread in this idea board, and we will take the number of user votes into consideration.
