It would be helpful to have the option for grouped layers to be expanded by default within the Experience Builder Map Layers Widget. Ideally, it would help to select which grouped layers are expanded and which are compressed by default. However, even just having the ability to expand all grouped layers by default would make it easier for users to locate the layer they want to view.
@Brian_McLeer This looks like it will be very useful! I do not have Developer Edition; can I still deploy this widget in Enterprise Portal Experience Builder? ESRI's documentation on hosting a custom widget on a web server is above my head. I found an ESRI blog, albeit from 2022, where the very first step says to install EB developer edition. (https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-enterprise/developers/add-experience-builder-custom...)
I myself am not a server admin but could instruct our admin on what to do if I understood it better. Could you provide a more layman approach on how to get your widget up and running in Enterprise Portal Experience Builder? Thanks!
@ChristopherBowering, I believe you should be able to deploy it in Enterprise with the link you sent (I have not done that at all). One thing to consider is that it is built in 1.17, so in this matrix it is compatible with Enterprise 11.4. I do not know if it will be compatible with earlier versions of Enterprise.
With not having deployed it myself from Developer to Enterprise, I would use the article you referenced and work with your admin.
@Brian_McLeer Thank you for the feedback. Our Enterprise was recently updated to 11.4 so I would be set on that front. As I mentioned, the first bullet of step 1 in that blog instructs to download developer edition so I may have to inquire further with ESRI. It doesn't make sense why that would be needed to deploy a pre-made widget but I'm not sure.
I support this idea! Implementing this will help Experience Builder to retain its 'low-code / no-code' concept.
