Real-world Problem: First responders are working on an Urban Search & Rescue team during a tornado or flooding event. To organize their search operations, they use a Web AppBuilder product called Intel Manager within SAR Common Operating Platform (SARCOP) to quickly create search segments and monitor what has been searched. By using the Batch Attribute Editor widget within Web AppBuilder, first responders can quickly select numerous points that they previously assigned as "Needs to be searched" and change this attribute to "Complete - No Follow-Up Needed." This workflow is critical to minimize time spent searching for disaster victims and reduce duplication of effort. Many teams work within the same app. The ability to filter to a specific attribute (e.g., Team Name) while selecting for a batch attribute edit is also significant to reduce mistakes and streamline the workflow.

The screenshot below shows an example incident within SARCOP with about 60 points.

See below, the user can choose to select a group of points by drawing a freehand polygon.

In the screenshot below, the points in the selection polygon were selected and the user can update attributes for the group of points all at one time.

Audience: First Responders, Urban Search & Rescue Team Members,

Technical Problem: Batch Attribute Editor widget is not available within Experience Builder. We are migrating these apps from Web AppBuilder to Experience Builder in anticipation of the deprecation.

Potential Solution: Ability to edit attributes using a batch selection within Experience Builder, similar to Batch Attribute Editor widget from Web AppBuilder. Batch editing attributes without the need to utilize a separate ArcGIS product is important to this workflow because our users are often working in time sensitive environment on a tablet or mobile and might not have any prior GIS experience outside of our app SARCOP.

I am using Indoors and when selecting features to edit, it selects all rooms stacked on top of each other. The indoors only shows the one floor. However, when selecting for the table or selecting for editing all rooms are selected in the layer that are stacked. Will the new batch edit tool be better at the selcting of the layers?

I've been playing around with WebEditor in the early adopter environment with this.

Huge caveat is that you can only edit 20 features max at a time (or 200 at a time if you do not have a form configured).  No sign of batch editing in Experience Builder.

Have been looking for batch editing in web map or table for feature layer and related records in XB for about half a year. Was told it would be in Q1 of 2025 but don't see a way yet and haven't heard anything else. I can filter or select a bunch of records but no way to mass assign a value. I have looked into using Web Editor but that has limitations and XB lets me see 2 tables side-by-side for editing. Will see if I can find more info.

The plan is to expose the batch update functionality you're seeing in Web Editor into Experience Builder. It's targeted for the next release of ArcGIS Online (June timeline).

Steve_Lane

Does this imply the June rollout will only have 20 feature max edit capability as well, or will this limitation be addressed by then?

I'm seeing that the Batch Editor Widget is only planned to be released for AGOL in 2025. Unfortunately, most if not all of our editing applications are in our Enterprise Portal and the current road map says that it won't be released until Enterprise 12.0. How does ESRI expect us to migrate our WAB apps to EB when this functionality isn't available? If it can be released in AGOL, why not include it in Enterprise 11.5 since that's the last release before 12? Will WAB apps still run in 12?

@NeumanAndrew If I am to believe these articles in the ArcGIS Blog, there will be no more Web AppBuilder in ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0. Hopefully, the batch editor will be present in ExperienceBuilder before then...

@MaximilienRIOT That's the crux of the issue. The current roadmap states that the batch attribute editor won't be available until enterprise 12, which is when WAB will no longer be available.

@AlixVezina @Jianxia @JuliePowell  - as the past few comments mention, we (Esri) are recommending customers upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 in order to facilitate the side-by-side development of new JSAPI 4.x apps while the 3.x apps can still be viewed/used - this leaves Web AppBuilder's Batch Attribute Editor widget hanging solo out in 11.5 without the ExperienceBuilder equivalent available is planned to be available at 12.0.  What is your recommended course of action here?  Are batch attributes editing still on track for Enterprise 12.0?

@ToddW_stl  after years of asking, I finally gave up on batch editing in Experience builder...  EB has a lot going for it I suppose, just not editing.  Frankly I stopped holding my breath waiting for a clean batch editing in EB; after so long and so many failed release promises, I have lost faith completely. Web editor batch edits and form configurations function consistently and find curious as to why the technology doesn't translate to EB.

if you really need to be able to batch edit cleanly in an Experience,  perhaps you can embed a web editor session? Going to test it at some point and will reply back... if anyone else tries it, let me know how it goes.
