I have a table widget that displays numerical data. With longer numbers, a thousandth separator is added by default to the number. Example:
In some instances, having a thousandth separator does not make sense and should be removed. Experience Builder does not provide a solution to that (one solution was offered here Removing 1000th separators from table widget which did not work for my case).
I suggest adding a toggle button to al Experience Builder widgets that would allow users to turn on/off the option to have a thousandth separator.
I can imagine a toggle button just like in Map Viewer under the Fields toolbar:
Hi @doronwen, thanks for your idea. Our colleagues from the Maps SDK team are working on the feature table widget honoring number/date format from the web maps, and custom layer formatting. Once it's supported from the Maps SDK end, the Experience Builder team will be able to support it. It's on track, and I'll keep you updated on this.
Hey @doronwen,
I also opened an Idea about thousand seperators: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-ideas/cofigure-thousand-separators/idi-p/1303770
In this Idea I suggested that throughout the entire ESRI World you have a toggle button where you can activate and deactivate the thousand separator.
I really cannot understand why there seems to be no standard for stuff like this througout the ESRI software. To me it seems like there are so many development teams and every single one of them is doing their own thing and in the end everythin is duck taped together.
There are so many posts about thousand seperators alone. If there would be a good ESRI Standard througout all their software, people would save a lot of energy and could do cool stuff.
But that is just an opinion of a customer...
Hello @doronwen and @MarcelBeckmann, a quick update on the number/date/time formatting. The format settings from the layer/in the web maps are honored in the ExB table widget. Please let me know if you run into any issues. Thanks!
Hi @Shen_Zhang apologies to be late to the discussion.
Is there a way to remove the thousands separator in the Table widget when you customize configuring fields, instead of using the layer settings? I have too many attributes to use the "use layer settings" option since visibility and ordering selections aren't honored with that option. The comma separators are toggled off in the sourced web map/pop-up configuration settings, but they appear in the Table widget when I customize configuring the fields (I presume they do so since they're numeric fields).
Can we have the capability to toggle the thousands separator on/off for when we are customizing field configuration in the Table widget as well?
Thanks!
Hi @sjvorona,
I believe the Table widget also respects the thousands separator format set in the web map, since the formatting is applied at the layer item level. As long as you use the layer from the map or add it as a standalone layer, the format will carry over to the Table widget in both “use layer settings” and “customise” modes.
One exception: if you add the layer via a service URL, the format settings will not be carried over.
