Will adding a domain affect schema for service on ArcGIS Server?

I feel like this is a simple question, but I don't know this off the top of my head as this will be my first time performing this.

I have a layer that is part of a Map Service on ArcGIS Server. This layer needs to have domains added to one of its fields. If I add the domain in Pro and republish the service, will this domain addition affect the schema and therefore anything using the service?

Thanks,

Josh

Yeah it will. Once there's a domain present the behavior of the service changes so that you'll have a dropdown selection, kind of like in pro. I have had a bit of trouble getting the changes to actually stick when overwriting a service after adding a domain. You might need to run the overwrite process multiple times.

All of that said, adding a domain is pretty non-disruptive. It'll change how users can interact with it, but it shouldn't have any concerning side-effects unless you'd been using that data field as the symbology driver.
