Using 10.3 ArcGIS Server I still get the Error in my log file after seeing this dialog. Publishing worked yesterday with same map and same service. The only thing different is that I added a field to one layer.

From the log file ...

Method failed.HRESULT = 0x80070057 : The parameter is incorrect. .

And yes the Publishing Tools ARE running on the server making this a very non-useful error message.

Workaround for today is save service definition (.sd) file, delete running service and replace. That seems to work.

Anther work around for this issue is to go to your arcgisserver folder that contains the directories and the config store and search for .rlock files.  Once the search is complete select all and delete.

This has worked for me many times.

Hello John,

Mostly we encounter these issues due to missing permissions of ArcGIS Server Account on the following location:

  • Drive:\arcgisserver.
  • Drive:\Python27.
  • Drive:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server.
  • Run the Configure ArcGIS Server account.

Applying explicit permissions for ArcGIS Server account should take care of this error.

Hope it helps!

Regards,

Archit
