Hi Team,

We are in the process of adding a new machine to the existing ArcGIS Data Store. After installing the ArcGIS Data Store on the new machine and attempting configuration through the Data Store Configuration Wizard, I am facing an issue. A snapshot of the error is attached here & logs is given below

<Msg time="2025-10-23T09:27:56,933" type="SEVERE" code="110303" source="Data Store" process="9492" thread="18" methodName="" machine="xyzx.xy.xy" user="" elapsed="0.0" requestID="">Attempt to configure data store failed. Attempt to configure data store failed. Caused by: Connection timed out while waiting for the primary data store machine to become available.</Msg>

As part of the troubleshooting, I have already performed the following checks:

  • Added the required Data Store ports to Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Updated the hosts file entries on both machines.
  • Verified connectivity — confirmed access from the new machine to the existing Data Store and vice versa.

Thanks & Regards,

Kristofer

@Kristofer is the current primary Data Store validating successfully?  I recommend validating this through ArcGIS Server Manager > data > items > enterpriseDatabases > AGSDAtaStore_ds_****** > machines > [machine.domain.com] > validate.

Are you able to connect to ArcGIS Server Admin (i.e. https://server.domain.com:6443/arcgis/admin) on the new Data Store machine?

Hi @JakeSkinner

Thanks for the swift support!!

As recommended, I validated the Data Store through the Server Admin page and found that the machine’s overall status was reported as "machine.overallhealth": "failed". I restarted the machine from the Server Admin page, and the Data Store is now validating successfully.

After successful validation, I re-initiated the configuration process through the Data Store Configuration Wizard, and the data copying process is currently in progress.

Thanks Once again!!

Thanks & Regards,

Kristofer

Hello @Kristofer

You can allow check this documentation "Migrate to a new machine in ArcGIS Enterprise(Steps for ArcGIS Data Store)": https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-enterprise/administration/migrate-to-a-new-machine-...

Hi @JakeSkinner & @Priya_Das11 ,

While migrating the relational Data Store, the process progressed successfully until approximately 100 GB out of 102 GB (the total size of the existing Data Store). However, an error occurred at that stage, and the migration not complete.

Log - <Msg time="2025-10-26T09:30:01,927" type="SEVERE" code="110303" source="Data Store" process="2440" thread="22" methodName="" machine="xyxz.xyzx.xyx" user="" elapsed="0.0" requestID="">Attempt to configure data store failed. Attempt to configure data store failed.
Caused by: Failed to configure standby machine for relational data store.
Caused by: The relational data store backup utility failed. The database backup files were not created.</Msg>

Before migration, I have already performed the following actions:

Deleted the existing backups using the deletebackup utility.

Reset the backup location to the default path: D:\arcgisdatastore\backup\relational.

Requesting your support in reviewing the issue and advising on the next steps to complete the migration successfully.

Thanks & Regards,

Kristofer
