Hey everyone,

I am installing ArcGIS for Server 10.1 Enterprise Edition in two virtualized servers : 1 Production and 1 Standby.
Would the multiple machine site deployment scenario suits this business case or is it more suitable to do a Single machine site deployment on each virtual server?

Please kindly advice on that.
Thanks.

We need more information to best answer this inquiry. That stated, if you are looking for redundancy then using an NLB for high availability is the way to go. You can have passive/active configuration as per your organizational needs. Take a look at the link below, there is a section for high availability configurations.

I recommend that you log a support call with Esri support services so that you can discuss this inquiry with a specialist for a definite answer. I hope this information is helpful.

As per this link, I have many options if I want to install ArcGIS for Server 10.1 :

My question is : What would be the most adaptive deployment scenario in my case?

That stated, if you are looking for redundancy then using an NLB for high availability is the way to go.

I found out that a high availability configuration is the way to go to match the clients needs and requirements.
Ok, could you provide more details about NLB in a high availability configuration?
I seem to struggle to find some technical operational documentation on it...

You can have passive/active configuration as per your organizational needs.

What do you mean by passive/active configuration?
I have 2 ArcGIS for Server servers, one is a production server and the other is standby server. Is is what you mean by active configuration?

I have already been here and it helped me a lot to define my architecture. I choosed three-tier configuration.
