I have a stand-alone ArcGIS Server with numerous registered data stores (SQL Servers) and folders. Some of them are failing validation in the ArcGIS Server Manager.
Is there a way to find out why a data store fails validation? I don't see anything in the ArcGIS Server log files (debug mode), but is there any other place to find that information? Would be super helpful to know if a data store fails validation due to insufficient permissions, network path not found, password incorrect, etc.
What is the error encountered after the process is failed? Make sure that ArcGIS Datastore and ArcGIS Server are on the same release.
Hope this will help
Troubleshoot ArcGIS Data Store

It isn't the "ArcGIS Datastore", it is a stand-alone ArcGIS Server with folders and SQL Server registered as data sources. Esri likes to makes names confusing like by having Data Stores for ArcGIS Sever that can include a product called the ArcGIS Datastore. 🙂
We may be able to see more details by tentatively setting the ArcGIS Server logging levels to verbose, and then attempt to validate one of the registered data stores for the logging to capture the failure in greater detail, then set the logging levels back to what it was before the change. Do share what you see in the relevant portions of the logs when the validation fails.
Hello @MichaelJenkins ,
As per my understanding, the validation of Databases/DataStores is performed by "System/PublishingToolsEx".
The maximum details available should be at GP service job logs. Try the following:
Navigate to ArcGIS Server Manager > Site > Data Stores > Validate the Data Store you would like to know more details about.
Once the above is completed, navigate to "Jobs" on the same page > select "System/PublishingToolsEx" in service and "query" > Click on the "info" icon on the result which matches time of validation process > Select the "Job Id".
This should allow you to have more details in regards to RCA of the failure.
Hope it Helps!
