Hosted Feature layer: Edit Delete not allowed, deletion happened

Hi,

I do have an Experience, in which my users create and edit polygons. The Polygons are stored in a hosted feature service. in the feature service i allowed editing but did not check the box for "Delete". In The Experience builder Edit widget, I also did not give the users the possibility to delete features.

Now a few weeks working in the Experience, one of my users accidentially deleted multiple polygons and also told me that deleting single polygons was always possible,

I assumed that those settings would have prevented them from deleting features. Is there a missinterpretation of the settings on my side?

Best

David

Generally if I set up a layer in any app that can be edited, I review it prior to users having access. For example, if I disable the edit capability on a service, I double check it in the map to see if the edit tool is listed. If it's not there, I know the setting worked.

Maybe they ended up working a different copy with settings not setup? One thing to check is to open up a map with the layer you set the edit settings on and see if you are seeing what is expected in terms of editing.

Hope this helps!

It is also worth checking if the user is the owner of the feature layer or is an organization administrator. I believe those scenarios bypass any delete settings on the feature layer.
