clone_items ERROR: Failed to create Feature Service xyz JSONObject["globalId"] not found

Question

I am trying to use the clone_items to copy an app from my source environment to my target environment.

I have successfully cloned other apps between these environments.

This one specific app starts to clone the related items (starting with the hosted feature layers) but then it gets an error:

_ItemCreateException: ('Failed to create Feature xyz: JSONObject["globalId"] not found.

(Error Code: 500)', <Item title:"xyz" type:Feature Layer Collection owner:julian>)

Any ideas what this could be? My other hosted feature layers do not have any GlobalIDs.
