I am trying to register our Oracle 12C SDE database with ArcServer 10.4 using OS authentication so I can publish a REST service. I keep getting a 'Bad User Login' error. No ORA number.

Here is our current configuration:

1. Oracle SDE at 10.4

2. Desktop at 10.4

3. Server for ArcGIS at 10.4

4. Oracle Client 64-bit is installed on the server that hosts ArcServer

If I use a database username and password instead of OS, it works. We've also confirmed that the server can 'tnsping' the database.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

We discovered we were using the wrong account to run services on the server. We were using a local account vs. a domain account. Problem solved.

Can you log into SQLPlus using OS authentication from the server machine?

Does OS authentication work form the machine that has desktop installed?

Yes, I can connect to SQLPLUS in the CMD window with OS authentication from that machine. And yes, OS authentication works from the machine the desktop software is installed.

Thanks for the previous answers..... I forgot to ask these also.

I assume that the Oracle machine is Windows?

Is the ArcGIS server account running with a domain account also (I would think so...)?

Are you using TNSNAMES or EZConnect for the connection string?

Oracle machine is Windows 2012 R2 as is the server for ArcServer. These are brand new VMs that were stood. We did not have this issue in 10.3.1 on different machines.

ArcGIS Server account is running with a domain account and it is a local admin

I am using EZConnect for the connection string.

Hi Mark,

I have not tested with Server at the 10.4 release. I would recommend that you create a support case with the Server Usage team so they can investigate in more detail.
