I am in the process of upgrading our HA deployment  (2 Portals, 1 Server, 1 fileshare, 2 data store and 2 tile cache). Following the successful upgrade of Primary Portal (and upgrading Secondary Portal too, but not initiated the post upgrade process in that VM), have upgraded GIS server machine to 11.1. After installation completed, initiated with 'Continue Server Upgrade', Even after 3 hrs the screen is as below:

I have checked the log files and nothing is happening for 3 hrs. The only place I see some changes are in the arcgisjobs folder where tools, utilities etc have a status.cache file which just have a new timestamp every 10 minutes or so.

Is this stuck? Has anyone faced such a situation?

Hi @Thomas_Puthusserry , it gets stuck in this window sometimes, you can review your logs it will say upgrade complete also if your ArcSOC.exe is up you can safely assume it is complete. if you open the tab in a new page, does it go to the login screen.

Regards

Henry

Thanks @hlindemann. I was expecting the  ArcSOC.EXE to start, but nothing shown. I logged to server admin directory and could see that the site is upgraded to 11.1. For some reason the process window didn't update. I forcefully restarted the server VM and everything seems to be fine (can see all SOC now running, can login via Portal, see the manager and the software version etc.

Just be patient. The amount of time that screen runs depends a lot upon how many services your org has. Our takes hours and hours to finish this step.

copy the URL to another tab and typically the manager application will draw.  I've done 10's of upgrades recently and they've all done this.  At first, I waited for hours thinking something was wrong, then realised it had completed in minutes.  So just put https://localhost:6443/arcgis/manager or https://localhost:6443/arcgis/admin

based on experience you should be able to log in, if not then we'll see what next.

Thanks @Scott_Tansley that is definitely something I will keep in mind, as I embark on our production env upgrades (three instances)
