hello experts

we have oracle 11g R2 server on linux 5

If i install arcgis server (10.1) on different machine running redhat linux 5, how to make arcsde direct connections ? can we configure arcgis server on linux to use arcsde direct connection files (.sde) ?

do we need to work with arcsde application server connection ?

please help

Yes, of course you can publish services using Direct Connect.  You simply need to install the appropriate 64-bit client on the server, and register the data source within the Server instance.

hi

i have been through the links.

i have arcgis desktop 10.1 installed on my local machine (windows 7).

Can i author and publish map service from arcgis desktop 10.1 running on my local machine on windows 7 by connecting arcgis server 10.1 running on redhat linux ?

Yes, of course you can publish services using Direct Connect.  You simply need to install the appropriate 64-bit client on the server, and register the data source within the Server instance.
