Transferring attachments between data layers based on the same identifer

Hello,

I had our team take pictures of the meter boxes in the 'meter box copy' data layer within our Enterprise portal 10.9.1/field maps, to avoid any accidental changes to the 'original meter box' data layer.

However, I'm now facing a dilemma: I need to transfer the attachments (photos) from the copy layer to the original layer.

Both data layers share the same unique identifier — the Facility ID. Is there a way to move or join the attachments from one layer to the other based on this shared field?

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @BlueSky17,

First check out this article from the Esri Knowledge Base about exporting attachments in bulk from a feature. Next it's recommended you create a match table to transfer the attachments to the correct records. For this you can use the Generate Attachment Match Table tool in ArcGIS Pro. Following that, run the Add Attachments tool and check it has all worked properly. Hope that helps!

Hi Rory,

Thank you for your reply. Both copy and original data layers exist in the Enterprise environment. I was wondering if there is some functionality within the Enterprise that would allow to transfer the attachements from one data layer to another without exporting and doing that in Pro. I am guessing it's just not feasible to do it directly in the Portal. But thank you anyway. Much appreciated!!!
