Hi. We use ArcMap 9.3 and custom mapping tools to create maps for our guidebooks. These custom tools allow the cartographer to work in a GIS environment that is still WYSIWYG.
The only problem is where you have a tertiary/secondary/primary road which may split into a divided road. The different segments are obviously coded differently so the symbology reflects that, but because it is GIS data, the divided roads will join the single road at the end point and with the symbology applied it doesn't look too good. I was wondering if there was any way to fix these without touching the data itself or manually fixing in Illustrator. I played around with representations but it seems to affect the underlying data.
