I have been searching high and low for a way to use the classify function to create a new field that provides a score for each percentile. I have about 2100 records that I have divided into deciles, and I want to provide a score of 1 to decile 1, 2 to decile 2 and so forth. One laborious way is to use the ranges provided by the classify function and select all the records based on those ranges and then use field calculator to make the selected values equal to 1 and so on. This seems like a very basic task and I am guessing there must be an easier way to recode these.
