How to grant privileges to publish registered data in Portal 10.6.1?

Our Portal Test environment is on version 10.9.1 and we get the option below to grant members privileges to publish layers from our portal database.

However, our Portal Production environment is still on 10.6.1 and we're not sure how to grant those privileges as there is no option for that below.

Is this configured somewhere else in 10.6.1?

For the ability to publish registered layers, the privilege would be "publish server-based layers", under General Privileges > Content. This lets users publish from registered data stores such as folders or database connections (instead of publishing as hosted).

For the ability to create feature layers in bulk from a data store, this functionality was released in 10.7.1, so will not appear as a privilege.

(refer to version drop-down on page; 10.6.x is greyed out).

Cheers

Hi there,

Thanks for your response. As you can see in the screenshot, that privilege is already enabled however we still cannot see the option when publishing the registered layer. Any pointers on what may be going on?

You have identified two separate pieces of functionality. The post title infers publishing referenced layers i.e. add a feature class from an enterprise database to a map in Pro then publish as a layer without copying the data.

The privilege "create feature layers in bulk" is a separate functionality that was introduced at 10.7.1. Thsi capability means feature and map image layers are created for all feature classes and tables in the database that can be accessed through the database connection.

Are you looking to publish a referenced layer or are you looking to publish feature layers in bulk?

I am looking to publish a referenced layer on Portal 10.6.1.

I am going off the description of "Create feature layers in bulk" which says "...publish web layers from a registered data store".

Hi Hayley,

This privilege is separate functionality. It should not be related to the issue you are seeing. Refer screenshots below for 10.7.x privileges

I would recommend closing this post and continuing discussion on the post from earlier:
https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/unable-to-publish-a-layer-referenced-to-registere...

I will add a reply to that post requesting more information to help.

Cheers,

Chris
