I hope the Web-Adaptor is of the same version (10.4.1).

Update the SSL certificate in IIS once again. Reconfigure Portal for ArcGIS with Web-adaptor.

The web adaptor is of the same version

Updated the SSL and reconfigured portal, still the same

What type of SSL Certificate are you using?  I believe self-signed will give you problems beyond the initial installation.

It does seem that your problem is Web Adaptor related.

When you access Server Manager and REST endpoints via URL, is that via the web adaptor address or via port?

I think I would try  (you are using FQDN?)

1. Verify that Portal, ArcGIS Server and Web Adaptors are all 10.4.1

(was this an upgrade or a clean install?  Same box?  Did you install Data Store?  Is AGS Federated ?

1.b Verify the Services are running

  1.c Check the Server logs

1.d  Check the Portal logs via PortalAdmin

1.e Verify IIS is correctly setup (you've bound the SSL (not self-signed) to port 443 in IIS?)

2. Check the ArcGIS Server Web Adaptor is correct and functioning as expected.

3. The Portal web adaptor looks correct above but it seems that something is off.

I would try uninstalling it and reinstalling.

If that fails, I would probably uninstall both AGS and Portal Web Adaptors and try reinstalling.

Still dead:

4. Put in a support ticket?  or uninstall and reinstall Portal and it's Web Adaptor then a support ticket if no luck.

FYI - I use the Chef cookbooks for building up an all in one box.

It has made my life much easier and the installations are consistent.

EDIT:  couple of threads that might be of use say:

Clean cookies, try different browser,

Portal Users "Sign In" Problem

Check the https://YourPortalFQDN/portal/portaladmin/system/webadaptors

What's the status show there?  Ditto for AGS.

We use a SSL from a CA

It is via the web adaptor

1. Verify that Portal, ArcGIS Server and Web Adaptors are all 10.4.1

(was this an upgrade or a clean install?  Same box?  Did you install Data Store?  Is AGS Federated ?

All software are 10.4.1, It was an upgrade from 10.3.1, All on the same box, AGS is not federated, Data Store already installed(didn't re install it)

1.b Verify the Services are running

       All services is running

  1.c Check the Server logs

     Can't find any severe problems

1.d  Check the Portal logs via PortalAdmin

     Can't find any severe problems

1.e Verify IIS is correctly setup (you've bound the SSL (not self-signed) to port 443 in IIS?)

IIS is correctly setup and SSL bind to 443

Check the ArcGIS Server Web Adaptor is correct and functioning as expected.

      Functioning as aspect ed

3. The Portal web adaptor looks correct above but it seems that something is off.

I would try uninstalling it and reinstalling.

Did try this

If that fails, I would probably uninstall both AGS and Portal Web Adaptors and try reinstalling.

Did try this

Check the https://YourPortalFQDN/portal/portaladmin/system/webadaptors

What's the status show there?  Ditto for AGS.

It shows the registered web adaptor

I'd start a help desk ticket...

The other thing that occurs to me would be to use Fiddler to look at the traffic and see if you can find out what's going on behind the scenes with the problem?

Hi a few things that you may want to try:

  1. Try installing the web adaptor with default context name /arcgis/
  2. Check the authorisation settings in IIS for your web adaptor application (you can try either windows or anonymous), though it's probably not this given the error
  3. Try checking the index of portal post update, this seems to create quite a few issues. If the index of the site isn't synchronised you can end up with version mismatch errors (if it's out of whack do a full reindex)
    1. https:/FQDN/portal/portaladmin/system/indexer/status
    2. https:/FQDN:7443/arcgis/portaladmin/system/indexer/status
  4. Try installing the web adaptor on a different server, referencing your portal instance.

Good luck!

Hi All

Thank you for all the help. I finally uninstalled portal, deleted all the parent folders and cleaned the registry. Re installed portal and everything is working now
