ArcGIS Enterprise 11.0: How to check if the ArcGIS Data Store is configured?

For example, the ArcGIS Web Adaptor appears as it’s shown in screenshot 1 when configured while the federated servers appear as in screenshot 2 when configured.

How about the ArcGIS Data Store?

In first screenshot, your ArcGIS server is federated with the portal but still not configured hosted server role, which is only possible if your ArcGIS server has Relational Datastore registered.

To check this, go to the server manager>site>serverconfiguration>Datastore, if you see Relational or TileCache datastore registered with your server, you have ArcGIS datastore registered.

Ensure that, you are able to validate the ArcGIS Datastores before you setup the hosting server role for your ArcGIS server.

Thank you for the help.

Right. There is an indication that the ArcGIS Data Store is configured as per the first screenshot. However, the server admin says that the “Registered Relational Datastore Types” is none. What could be the issue here?

I dont run 11.0 yet so I could be way off base. Did you go into Portal --> Organization --> Settings --> server and set your hosting server?

Is “hosting server” term equivalent to “federated ArcGIS Server”?

Is the “hosting server” configured as per the screenshot below?

That line "configure server role" needs to get setup to be hosting server

  • Open the Configure server role dialog by doing one of the following:
    1. Next to Server role, click the current server role or Configure server role if no role is currently assigned.
    2. Click the More options button and select Configure server role.
  • Use the toggle button to enable the Hosting Server for selected the server role.
  • Click Save.

Configuring a hosting server allows users to:

  • Publish hosted layers.
  • Share layers and maps from ArcGIS for Office.
  • Add a zipped shapefile, CSV file, or GPS Exchange Format file to Map Viewer Classic.
  • Batch geocode addresses from a CSV file or table.
  • Perform feature analysis in Map Viewer Classic, ArcGIS Insights, or ArcGIS Pro.
  • Perform raster analysis from Map Viewer Classic or ArcGIS Pro.

Federating an ArcGIS Server site with your portal integrates the security and sharing models of your portal with one or more ArcGIS Server sites. Basically the Portal Security Store controls the access to the Server Site

As per the screenshots below, the “configure server role” option ends up with “Unable to load the ArcGIS Server backing stores and/or the ArcGIS Server license information” error

What might be the issue here?

Have you looked at the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory?  https://<servername:6443>/arcgis/admin/security

Click on "Change Server Role"

Role: does it list anything in the drop down?

I cant recall if you have to set this first to "hosting server" before it will allow you to pick from the portal settings.
