Creating a new Ground Overlay would be easier if :

Hello GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde

That is great @Anonymous User ! Thank you !
Yes, when I made the comment, I saw that it was addressed to @ZheZheng. It is weird that it changed to AnonymousUser...
Hi @GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde, I can understand how that might look strange but can confirm it was expected. I'm a Community Managers for Esri Community and one of the things our team assists with is consolidation when a member unintentionally ends up with more than one account. When an account disappears, its posts migrate to a preservation account called Anonymous User. That's why I tagged @ZheZheng, so that their remaining account would stay subscribed to this post and there'd be a record of the change. All the best!
Thanks, GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde , JesseCloutier I apologize for any confusion caused by using another account.
Aspect ratio will be supported for Ground and Screen Overlays in v2.3, releasing this December.
Hi @GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde , did you have a chance to try the aspect ratio enhancement in V2.3?
I've attached the following screen recording for quick reference:
Hello @Sharon_MU , the Lock Aspect Ratio enhancement is really great, thank you! It will facilitate the creation of Ground and Screen Overlays 😊
The only part that is still missing – from my personal point of view, of course – is a way to bring back the original aspect ratio of an image for a Ground Overlay. A user can bring back the original aspect ratio of an image for a Screen Overlay by using the Original Size button :
The addition of an Original Aspect Ratio button (A) would be useful for Ground Overlays. Another possibility could be to modify the behaviour of the existing Fit to screen button (B) so that it fills the screen and conserve the original aspect ratio (like in Google Earth Pro) :
Thank you !
Thanks @GeoffroyRicher-Lalonde for the prompt feedback and great sharing! 👍
I logged it for the internal review of our team. This function "Original Size/Aspect Ration" of Ground Overlay was not yet included in Ground Overlay for some consideration previously.
Just to share with you for your reference. Images draped on the ground can be extremely reshaped especially when the terrain is complex or the altitude is high in 3D scene or globe surface. Even the image keeps the original aspect ratio, we're not sure if it still helps in actual cases.
Anyway, I've take down your idea for further research. please stay tuned.
Thanks!
