So much of our data are in Esri formats (file and enterprise geodatabase) which is not supported by ArcGIS Earth. In order for that product to be a viable viewer it must support those formats...please. Also, please don't recommend that my non-expert users go to an AGO or Portal web interface...they are already rejecting those platforms.
I also agree. ArcGIS Earth should support file geodatabase feature class format. Otherwise I'll just have to keep generating kml files for my non-GIS coworkers and clients (i.e., Google Earth users).
Does Esri plan on adding this capability? Are there any updates related to this?
Bumping this request. ESRI please reply.
Starting at version 1.17, mobile geodatabases (SQLite) are supported. It's still not File GDB support, but it may be an alternative.
Hi all,
Support for File Geodatabase is being prioritized for the first release of 2025 (v2.4).
That's great news if the first release of 2025 version will support FGDB files. Are you able to let us know if that will be in the first or 2nd half of the year, or approximate month?
Also will that release include support for SDE connections?
Hi @RobynStev,
ArcGIS Earth is built on the ArcGIS Maps SDK for .NET. Unfortunately, FGDB is not supported in Runtime. While we did prioritize this feature for the first release of 2025, there is no timeframe for when the needed support will be implemented in the ArcGIS Maps SDK for .NET. In the interim, I would recommend the use of Mobile Geodatabase, as it provides almost all of the same functionality.
We will look into support for SDE connections. If your SDE feature layers are hosted as feature services through Portal you should be able to connect and edit in ArcGIS Earth today. However if you are looking for version based editing, check-in/check-out please advise.
Hi @jsphillips ,
Thanks for your reply. To answer your question, we are not looking for editing, we have many SDE featureclasses and we would just like to be able to view them in ArcGIS Earth. Currently using ArcGIS Pro we can access the SDE connection (we have a read only connection).
We published a small subset of these SDE feature layers to portal and they work in ArcGIS Earth, thanks, that is our workaround for now. But I didn't want to publish them all.
