Managing X axis range for serial charts

I have 3 serial charts that come from 3 different feature services (so I can't add them as multiple series on a single chart).

 

As you can see from the picture below, the top 2 charts span 3 days (the entire data collection period), whereas the bottom chart only spans 1 day (again, the entire data collection period for that particular layer)

What I'd like to do is 

(a) control the range of values shown on the X axis so that all 3 charts show the same time period (e.g. most recent record -  3 days), so in this example it'd force the bottom chart to plot across 3 days regardless of the underlying data, and

(b) anticipating this chart getting smaller and smaller as data collection continues, Id like to be able to control the max range of time shown on the X axis - probably 3 days again.

I think (a) is achievable if I create a data expression and jam all 3 data sources together but I'm not sure on how much a performance hit this will be given we'll end up with around 40,000 records, thus I'm looking for other options first. I'm not sure how to achieve (b)
